3RD ANNUAL FIREFIGHTERS' MEMORIAL MASS Satruday, February 13th

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the 3rd annual Firefighters' Memorial Mass on Saturday, February 13th at 10:00 AM at St. John's. In this special Mass, we remember the four firefighters who gave their lives fighting the great fire of 1899 that nearly destroyed our beautiful church. We honor all firefighters who continue to serve us each day and your attendance of the Mass is a great way to help us thank them. Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers, several Deputy Commissioners and a contingent of firefighters are expected to attend - come out and show your support! A reception, hosted by the Hospitality Committee, will immediately follow the Mass.

Ash Wednesday February 17th

Ash Wednesday is the busiest day of the year for our parish because we serve the needs of so many Center City residents, commuters, and visitors. Last year nearly 15,000 people attended Mass and prayer services held at St. John’s and Jefferson Hospital throughout the day.

If you are willing and able to assist with the many needs of our service to the community this coming Ash Wednesday, February 17th ,please call (215-563-4145), email at sjeoffice@yahoo.com or visit the Parish Center to leave your name, contact information, and the hours that you will be able to assist us between 6 AM and 7 PM on Ash Wednesday.

It’s a great way to give alms & begin this Great Season of Conversion and Holiness!

Peaceful
Prolife
Prayer Vigil

Come for the whole time or just an hour. If you can’t come, please pray on your own at that time or during the week in solidarity.

What we do at 8th and Appletree:

We typically pray the rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Stations of the Cross and some other prayers and songs. Only those trained to be sidewalk counselors share information with men and women entering the facility. We could use counselors if you’re able and we would love to see many, many people praying for LIFE!

If it’s your first time, be not afraid! You may have heard that pro-lifers are all crazy…it’s true! (Actually, this group is not mental. We’re just counter-cultural because we share the Truth with love!)

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Peace and joy,
Erin
